Receptionist – Resources Team

An opportunity exists for a Receptionist (Band 2) to join our team on a permanent basis for 30 hrs per week.
The main purpose of the role is to provide reception cover for a variety of clinical areas within the Trust, focusing on an excellent patient experience. The post holder will demonstrate attention to detail and organisational skills and will also provide comprehensive administration support to ensure deadlines are met and work is prioritised to meet targets and objectives.
Under current Home Office Immigration Rules, this role does not meet the UK Visas and Immigration criteria and is therefore not eligible for sponsorship. Applications from candidates that require skilled worker sponsorship will not be shortlisted.
Main duties of the job
- Provide a professional and efficient reception service to a variety of clinical areas within the trust. Greet and reassure patients on arrival and give them clear instructions ensuring a patient‑centred service is maintained at all times.
- Support clinical colleagues in organising the daily running of outpatient clinics, maintaining patient flow through the department and keeping patients informed of any delays.
- Liaise with clinical staff to ensure smooth running of clinics and develop good working practices and relationships with the team.
- Provide advice and information to patients regarding appointments, clinic arrangements, etc.; resolve queries from patients and relatives in relation to these areas and reassure nervous patients.
- Gather and share information as required for the relevant clinical area, either verbally or electronically, exercising discretion and confidentiality at all times.
- Pass on queries to colleagues within the team to ensure patients are communicated with effectively.
- Ensure that outcomes of outpatient clinics are recorded and directed to relevant secretarial and clerical staff with full reasons for attendances, cancellations and postponements.
- Liaise with portering staff to transport patients to x‑ray and the transport desk.
