Main duties of the job

  • GP Surgery administration experience
  • able to work well on your own and as part of a team
  • Ideally have NHS primary care or equivalent experience

We are a 10000+ patients surgery, friendly and committed team of Doctors, Nurses and other healthcare professionals, and a team of administrative staff.

Job responsibilities

Answering the telephone quickly and dealing with or redirecting enquirers.

Running the appointment system including making appointments and encouraging patients to use the check in system.

Dealing repeat prescriptions requests and queries.

Scanning of medical correspondences

Dealing with patient queries

Qualifications

  • 1. Education to GCSE (or equivalent) including English language & Math.
  • 2. Ability to be discrete and maintain absolute confidentiality.
  • 3. Excellent telephone manner.
  • 4. Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • 5. Accuracy and an eye for detail.
  • 6. A calm, pleasant and reassuring personality.
  • 7. Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
  • 8. Ability to be flexible regarding hours/tasks.
  • 9. Previous experience in a healthcare setting/dealing with the general public
  • Previous experience in a GP Surgery.
  • Clinical system EMIS experience.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work confidently within the role, referring matters to reception supervisor, doctors or practice manager as appropriate
