Ever been told you have a calming presence or you’re great at putting individuals at ease simply by being there? We’d love to tell you about our Companion Volunteer role taking place at the QE Hospital in Birmingham.

Availability

3 hours per week – flexible to suit you

Criteria

Minimum 18 years of age. A Criminal Record Check is required for this opportunity – Marie Curie will cover the cost of this.

What you’ll do

• Visit different patients at QE Birmingham Hospital
• Each visit may be with a different person, offering variety and new conversations
• Share a cup of tea, a chat, or simply quiet companionship
• Listen to stories, memories, or just talk about the everyday

You’d be a great fit if you’re

• Caring and compassionate nature
• Patience and good listening skills
• Comfortable with sensitive topics, such as death, dying and bereavement
• Able to commit to 3 hours a week
• Comfortable with email and completing a brief visit report
• Respectful of boundaries and confidentiality
