About the role

We are seeking an ambitious Research Assistant with an interest in multidisciplinary research, particularly related to musculoskeletal injury prevention. You will assist the Principle Investigator and research team, particularly in delivering a large prospective cohort study.

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Science, or related discipline, exceptional organisational skills and a primary interest in musculoskeletal injury prevention research.

A Masters level qualification and some semi-independent research experience would be desirable. 

Working as part of an integrated team you will assist with the preparation and delivery of large field-based data collections on British Army trainee volunteers. 

The role will involve a lot of travel, predominantly for data collection, which may require some work during unsociable hours. 

Data collections will involve a range of biomechanical and physiological assessments, including the collection of biological samples, providing an opportunity to develop knowledge and skills across a broad range of relevant research methods relevant to injury prevention.

You will have excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills, and the ability to focus on solutions to challenges and work independently and as part of our research team.

About us

The Department for Health at the University of Bath is an internationally leading research-intensive Department. We were ranked 6th in the REF 2021 Unit of Assessment for Sport and Exercise Science, where >90% of our research was considered ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’. 

We recently secured funding from the UK Ministry of Defence to deliver the British Army Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention (MSKI-PREVENT) research programme.
