Location: UK-based (company HQ in Buckinghamshire)
You will need to be flexible with onsite attendance for design reviews and key project activities. This may involve being onsite 1–2 days per week during certain project phases. While the requirement will be irregular, when onsite support is needed, attendance at site will be expected.

An advanced aerospace engineering programme is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with strong airframe structures experience to support the development of next-generation aircraft systems.
This opportunity will suit an experienced engineer who thrives within fast-paced R&D and prototype environments and can take ownership of structural design activities from concept through to manufacture and validation.
Overview
You will be responsible for the design and development of primary and secondary airframe structures, supporting integration, lightweight structural design and engineering release activities across the programme.
Working closely with stress, manufacturing and systems engineering teams, you will deliver robust and manufacturable structural solutions suitable for advanced aerospace applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and development of airframe structural components and assemblies
- Creation of 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings using CATIA 3DX
- Support structural integration, packaging and installation activities
- Work closely with stress, systems and manufacturing engineering teams
- Support prototype build, testing and validation activities
- Participate in technical reviews and design problem-solving
- Support configuration control and engineering release processes
- Ensure designs comply with aerospace engineering standards and best practice
Experience Required
- Proven aerospace mechanical design experience within airframe structures
- Strong background designing primary and secondary structures
- High level proficiency with CATIA 3DX is essential
- Experience working within aerospace, aviation, UAV or eVTOL sectors
- Good understanding of metallic and composite structures
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes
- Experience supporting prototype or low-volume development programmes
- Ability to work autonomously within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment
Desirable Experience
- eVTOL, UAV or advanced air mobility programme experience
- Exposure to structural analysis / FEA environments
- Knowledge of aerospace certification requirements
- Experience within highly regulated engineering environments
