Job Description:

Education

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline preferred.

Experience Required

Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a Mechanical Engineering or related engineering role.

Advanced proficiency in 2D drafting and 3D modelling methodologies with working knowledge of GD&T.

Experience creating Bills of Materials (BOMs) and part numbering systems.

Familiarity with engineering documentation including test reports, product specifications, and PPAP/APQP documentation in compliance with IATF 16949 standards.

Advanced skill in 3D part and assembly modelling using SolidWorks.

Experience in connector design engineering, including simulation and reverse engineering methodologies.

Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as injection moulding, metal stamping, and machining is advantageous.

Experience leading New Product Introduction (NPI) projects from concept through production release.

Proven ability to liaise with customers regarding technical issues and product development requirements.

Experience collaborating with internal departments and external suppliers.

Skills Required

Strong planning and organisational skills.

Solid project management and communication abilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Advanced proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or DraftSight.

Strong ability to prepare and review technical and engineering drawings.

Key Responsibilities

Produce 3D models, engineering drawings, product variations, and calculations from concept through to manufacturing release.

Manage NPI projects including creation and approval of technical documentation to support business development activities.

Update product drawings to meet customer and industry standards, including RoHS compliance and PPAP/APQP requirements.

Create and maintain Bills of Materials and product structures.

Participate in product testing, prototyping (including 3D printing), qualification, and corrective action programmes.

Review and proof technical drawings and specifications developed by colleagues or suppliers.

Communicate effectively with cross-functional departments to ensure project progression and delivery.

Additional Engineering Functions

Prepare engineering, design, plating, quality assurance, and testing specifications as required.

Develop special variation specifications in line with customer requirements.

Create and maintain material specifications and associated engineering documentation.

Maintain accurate records relating to drawings, specifications, and revision control.

Ensure compliance with company procedures, engineering standards, and health and safety requirements.

Sales & Customer Support

Provide product drawings and 3D models for customer presentations and proposals.

Support customer and sales enquiries with technical specifications and documentation.

Perform testing activities and document results in support of sales and marketing requests.

Quality Assurance Support

Assist with inspection activities to confirm product compliance with quality specifications.

Document deviations from specifications and support corrective action activities.

Prepare corrective action reports and support customer response activities when required.
