The Role
We are looking for a Tube Assembly & Test Technician to join our team, supporting the processing, assembly, and testing of X-ray tubes for our industry-leading scanning systems.
This is a hands-on role within a high-tech manufacturing environment, working with sophisticated vacuum and high-voltage equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and test X-ray tubes ready for integration into scanning systems
- Operate vacuum bake-out ovens and associated vacuum equipment
- Conduct tube activation, assembly completion, and preparation for testing
- Perform high-voltage conditioning and testing
- Diagnose and rectify vacuum leaks
- Carry out basic fault finding on tubes, equipment, and vacuum systems
- Support wiring loom build and general assembly activities
- Complete accurate data recording (Excel-based) and shift reports
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and test rigs
- Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) where required
- Ensure compliance with COSHH and health & safety standards
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised workspace
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Key Requirements
- 3–4 years’ experience in a technical/engineering or manufacturing environment
- Experience operating complex manufacturing, scientific, or test equipment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow defined processes
- Comfortable working with computer-controlled equipment (HMI interfaces)
- Good team player with strong communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic reporting
- Knowledge of safe working practices
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Experience with vacuum systems or high-voltage equipment
- Background in X-ray, medical, or scientific equipment manufacturing
- Cleanroom experience
- Helium leak testing or vacuum system maintenance
- Familiarity with quality systems, COSHH, 5S, or Six Sigma
- Experience using lifting equipment (e.g., gantry cranes)
Qualifications
- ONC/HND in Engineering or Scientific discipline, or equivalent experience
