We are delighted to be working exclusively in partnership with a premium British lifestyle and fashion brand to recruit an experienced Knitwear Designer to join their Head Office team in Newquay.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a passionate and commercially aware Knitwear Designer to join a growing business that combines craftsmanship, innovation and conscious fashion.

The Opportunity

Reporting into the Product Team, you will lead the knitwear design process from initial concept through to production, creating elevated, sustainable collections that align with the brand’s heritage aesthetic while evolving the product offering in a modern and commercially relevant way.

This role would suit a creative and technically strong knitwear specialist who thrives in a collaborative environment and has a genuine passion for premium product, natural fibres and timeless design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and interpret emerging trends, translating them into commercially successful knitwear collections.
  • Create seasonal mood boards, concepts and colour palettes inspired by British heritage, contemporary influences and timeless styling.
  • Conduct competitor and aspirational brand research, identifying market opportunities and maintaining the brand’s unique positioning.
  • Develop detailed sourcing boards for suppliers.
  • Build and manage yarn, trim and specification libraries.
  • Lead the development of original knitwear designs, including sketches, technical drawings and detailed specifications.
  • Select appropriate yarns, stitches and knitwear techniques to ensure premium quality and aesthetic.
  • Manage samples through the development process, ensuring deadlines and critical path milestones are achieved.
  • Collaborate closely with Buying, Technical and Supplier teams to resolve production, quality and costing challenges.
  • Build strong working relationships with both UK and international suppliers across short and long lead times.
  • Travel nationally and internationally for inspiration, sourcing and product development trips.
  • Present seasonal concepts, colour palettes and product ranges to internal stakeholders.
  • Attend fit sessions alongside garment technologists, ensuring fit, quality and design integrity are maintained throughout development.
  • Analyse trade and performance feedback to continuously refine and strengthen the knitwear collection.

About You

  • Flexible on level and experience but must have a strong specialism in knitwear
  • Strong technical understanding of knitwear construction, yarns and garment finishing.
  • Proven track record of developing commercially successful knitwear collections.
  • Excellent Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign skills.
  • Experience creating detailed technical packs across multiple knit gauges, stitches and textures.
  • Strong understanding of colour, pattern, scale and knitwear techniques.
  • Experience managing both short and long lead supplier relationships.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, collaboration and presentation skills.
  • Portfolio demonstrating technical knitwear expertise across gauges, textures, stitches and ply construction.
