About the job

We are seeking an experienced Senior Risk and Compliance Lawyer to join a well-established law firm on an interim basis. This role will work closely with senior leadership to support risk management, governance, and regulatory compliance across the firm.

Key Details:

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Duration: Initial 3 months (with potential to extend)
  • Rate: £Daily rate
  • Working Pattern: Full-time (flexibility to consider 4 days)
  • Location: Hybrid/London (2–3 days per week)
  • Equipment: Candidates must provide their own laptop

Key Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the COLP / General Counsel on risk management and governance issues across the Firm, exercising discretion and sound judgement.
  • Leading on risk management processes, including the design, implementation, and improvement of procedures, assessments, and audit frameworks.
  • Monitoring regulatory developments and advising on their impact, ensuring timely updates to Firm policies and processes.
  • Supporting investigations and providing regulatory and legal advice to Partners, lawyers, and senior operational stakeholders.
  • Advising on stakeholder relationships from a legal and regulatory perspective.
  • Contributing to operational strategy within the Risk Department and collaborating on Firm‑wide initiatives.
  • Supporting risk and governance matters across international offices and consultancy businesses within the Group.
  • Managing, mentoring, and developing junior colleagues within the team.
  • Preparing and delivering training to promote the Firm’s risk management and compliance culture.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in risk, compliance, and governance within a legal or professional services environment
  • Experience working closely with senior stakeholders (e.g. General Counsel / COLP)
  • Ability to balance commercial awareness with regulatory requirements
