Responsibilities

Critical Care is looking to recruit hardworking, enthusiastic and motivated individuals to work as part of our team in Bronglais General Hospital. The Nursing Support Worker role within Critical Care is to assist the qualified nurses in delivering the fundamentals of care to their patient. This role will require you to undertake delegated clinical observations and to communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team.

You will be helping to ensure that critical care runs smoothly by undertaking duties outlined by the Nurse in Charge on a day-to-day basis. This will involve supporting the registered nurse with direct patient care, stocking the unit with equipment, and assisting with admissions and discharges.

Qualifications and Knowledge

  • Level 3 qualification in a health care related subject or equivalent experience and evidence of work-based competency demonstrating theoretical knowledge and the ability to undertake clinical care duties relevant for the role gained through experience and work-based training/short courses
  • Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales and All Wales Delegation Guidelines (HEIW)
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within a healthcare setting, for example the principles of Safeguarding adults/children to keep patients within their care safe, and confidentiality for example General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
  • The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable (Level 1). The Health Board offers support to help meet minimal desirable requirements.

Experience

  • Experience of working within a relevant health or social care environment, providing direct patient care
  • Experience of working with patient groups relevant to area of practice
  • Experience of working within the NHS

Skills and Attributes

  • Welsh speaker (Level 1)

Salary

£26,300 to £27,890 a year pro rata
