If so, we would love to have you join us for this role as Senior Pharmacy Technician – Education & Development. This role is part-time – 24 hours per week.

The Pharmacy Education & Development Team at the Royal Surrey actively seeks to innovate the delivery of training programmes, including developing and launching multi-sector training programmes for both trainee pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

Working within the multi-disciplinary team is key to the post and we are seeking candidates who work with enthusiasm, can use their own initiative, show a willingness to learn and are keen for a new challenge. Main duties of the job

You will work closely with the other members of the Pharmacy Education & Development Team in a supportive environment to further build your skills and develop your expertise in pharmacy education and development. You will have the opportunity to build relationships with stakeholders, both within the trust and regionally, to develop training programmes in line with national requirements, at an exciting time when we are offering cross-sector training programmes for pharmacy trainees with the mental health, general practice and community pharmacy sectors.

Job responsibilities

As a member of the Pharmacy Education & Training team, to support the training and development of pharmacy trainees in line with local, regional and national guidelines, personal development plans and service needs As a member of the Pharmacy Department, to ensure safe, effective, economical and timely pharmaceutical care for all patients receiving a pharmaceutical service from the department To support the education, training and continual professional development of all pharmacy trainees, registered pharmacy professionals and pharmacy support staff To support the apprenticeship training for pharmacy trainees, registered pharmacy professionals and pharmacy support staff To support the development, delivery and evaluation of education and training provided within the Department and within the Trust To participate in the front-line provision of Pharmacy Services as appropriate and when required, including pharmacy clinical and dispensing services

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Qualified Pharmacy Technician NVQ / QCF Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent plus accredited underpinning knowledge (BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent) as recognised by the GPhC
  • Current registration with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Educational Supervisor Training (or willing to undertake)
  • Evidenced records of commitment to Continuous Professional Development
  • Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (or willing to undertake)
  • Recognised, current Medicines Management/ Optimisation Qualification

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the GPhC professional standards and registration requirements for pharmacy technicians
  • Significant post registration experience working in hospital pharmacy as a pharmacy technician
  • Experience in the development and implementation of work based training/SOPs across a variety of tasks
  • Experience in delivering competency based training
  • Knowledge of legislative aspects of medicines supply
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Previous experience as a senior pharmacy technician and/or management experience
  • Experience conducting staff appraisals & sickness absence management
  • Knowledge of post registration training opportunities and requirements
  • Knowledge and understanding of the apprenticeship programmes for pharmacy
  • Experience as a mentor / educational supervisor
  • Experience of e-portfolio management
  • Experience of identifying training needs, personal development planning and evaluation
  • Knowledge of wider NHS agenda and issues, particularly relating to training & development
