Overview

Are you a self‑motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic individual looking to take your first step into a Healthcare Science Career? Join us as an apprentice Healthcare Science Support Worker in the Cellular Pathology division.

We are offering three professional, motivated and innovative apprenticeships with the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust’s Pathology Service.

Responsibilities

  • Enter patient and specimen data into pathology computer systems.
  • Handle all sample types, including those potentially carrying transmissible infection risks, following the appropriate protocols.
  • Store, retrieve and dispose of specimens and specimen records in accordance with legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Perform housekeeping duties such as cleaning, basic maintenance of equipment and support stock level maintenance.
  • Assist in dispatching samples to other laboratories with complex requirements.

Location & Schedule

The role is primarily based at the University Hospital of North Tees site, with cross‑site work across North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust and South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust possible. Working hours are 7 am–6 pm, with a flexible 7.5‑hour day required within this window.
