Job Description Summary
During a time of exciting growth here at Dowty (a GE Aerospace company) we have a new opportunity of an 18 month fixed term contract, to join our onsite manufacturing team in Brockworth, near Gloucester, as a manufacturing planning specialist. As a planner in our team, you will be responsible for managing and ensuring the integrity of product data within our business planning system, overseeing embodiment of engineering changes, acting as a focal point for New Product Introduction (NPI) activities at Dowty and supporting the Master Production Schedule (MPS). You will manage the set‑up of item masters, BOM configuration and have an in‑depth understanding of item master planning parameters, engineering change processes, and the aerospace industry. You will be a crucial part of our planning process and be detail‑orientated and have extensive experience with business planning systems (e.g. Syteline and Oracle ERP systems). You will facilitate the integration of more detailed production planning for Engineering requirements and work together with our Materials Fulfilment team to effectively meet our internal customer service level and plan for success.
Essential Responsibilities
- Oversee the creation, maintenance, and accuracy of item master data within our business planning systems like Syteline and Oracle ERP.
- Ensure that all data related to part numbers, descriptions, specifications, and BOMs are correct, complete, and up to date, and that they comply with both internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and maintain data governance processes to ensure our standards are adhered to.
- Conduct regular audits and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify and correct data discrepancies, redundancies, and inaccuracies in the item master.
- Work closely with engineering, quality, procurement, production, and customer‑facing teams to ensure smooth flow of product data across the supply chain.
- Provide support and be the planning focal for all design changes, engineering change notifications and other data projects to ensure product configurations and item master data align with operational and program needs.
- Coordinate supply chain implementation of all engineering changes and new products ensuring the timely and accurate set‑up of parts and BOM changes, that effectivity dates are planned and inventory impacts and the Master Production Schedule (MPS), if any, are specified and bought off cross‑functionally.
- Act as the liaison between all supply chain functions by facilitating a regular review and resolving any discrepancies during the change implementation process.
- Establish required standard operating rhythms for change implementation, data quality of the item master and planning parameters within the Planning Team that meet our strategic goals and monitor key processes through key performance indicators (KPIs) reviewed within our daily management.
- Document standard work and identify areas for improvement in our planning processes, recommend and implement process changes to increase efficiency, reduce lead times and minimise costs by utilizing our Flight Deck Tool kit.
- Train and mentor team members as required on ERP system.
- Act as a delegate to the Master Schedulers (trained as such) and support Materials Fulfilment where required.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Experience of manufacturing, production planning is a key requirement of this role.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college, or equivalent knowledge and experience in manufacturing and/or supply‑chain operations.
- Working knowledge of both ERP and MRP systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Established data analytical skills with the use of digital tools like Spotfire and Oracle.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities.
- Problem‑solving mindset.
