Apprentice Quantity Surveyor

Hall & Kay is offering a Level4 Construction Design & Build Technician Apprenticeship in Birmingham. The role will support Quantity Surveyors on real projects and develop skills in cost management, contract law, procurement and financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse, prepare and manage project costs from initial assessment through to completion.
• Select and manage suppliers and sub‑contractors, ensuring timely delivery and quality.
• Develop expertise in contracts, financial management and contract law.
• Compile monthly/quarterly data to monitor project performance.
• Gather and assess information on land, property or construction projects.
• Conduct costings, measurements and valuations using research data.
• Purchase materials and services from smaller companies and monitor their performance.
• Ensure payments to suppliers and subcontractors are requested and released on time.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade4 or above, including a grade5 in Maths.
• A Level DD or BTEC National Diploma PPP or Access to HE Diploma with 21 merits, or equivalent level3 qualifications worth 64 UCAS points.
• Enthusiastic and passionate about a career in engineering.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
• Good attendance, self‑discipline, time‑management and ability to meet deadlines.
• Must be at least 18 years old by1September2026.

Apprenticeship Details

• Level4 Construction Design &Build Technician Apprenticeship at Dudley College of Technology.
• Start date: September2026.
• Work on real projects, support Quantity Surveyors, travel within the Birmingham region as required.
• Manage time and commitments to balance study and work.

Remuneration & Benefits

• £22,000 per annum
• 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
• Option to buy an additional 5 days.
