Homeless Centre Officer

Permanent

Grade B – £28,598 – £33,699

Consultation grade – subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

In this role you will provide practical, day-to-day support to households experiencing homelessness, often in emergency or crisis situations. Weekly hours will be on a rota-based shift pattern, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Shifts will be from between 8am – 9.30pm Monday – Friday and 8am – 8.30pm on weekends.

Working within one of our supported accommodation centres across the city, you will be part of a team delivering a temporary accommodation service, ensuring residents feel safe, supported and able to move forward.

Responsibilities

  • Support residents on arrival and throughout their stay in temporary accommodation
  • Assist with housing benefit claims and basic financial arrangements
  • Help residents plan their move into longer-term accommodation
  • Carry out room inspections and safety checks
  • Respond flexibly to the needs of individuals and families
  • Write brief case notes and maintain accurate records
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies to support positive outcomes
