Overview
NHSC Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom. The Diagnostics Directorate is looking for Clerical Officers primarily at Glasgow Royal Infirmary X‑ray department, with coverage required at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Stobhill ACH and Glasgow Dental Hospital as needed.
Working Patterns
- Based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
- Part‑time permanent role – 20 hours per week.
- Monday to Friday, 4 pm to 8 pm (5 evenings per week). Job share may be considered.
- Salary is pro‑rata for part‑time hours.
- From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time work week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part‑time working hours will be reduced pro‑rata, with a corresponding increase in hourly rate to keep overall pay unchanged.
Responsibilities
- Provide reception and clerical support within the Radiology Department.
- Open and close reception areas and departments, acting as the first point of contact.
- Register confidential patient data on RIS and update patient demographics accurately.
- Use a range of information systems to maintain appointments, waiting lists and patient tracking, ensuring an audit trail.
- Coordinate CRIS diaries with radiologist and radiographer sessions, distributing weekly rota and ensuring national waiting‑time guarantees.
- Prepare and send patient appointment letters with fasting instructions and other preparation information.
- Communicate with patients about appointments, cancellations or changes, arrange transport and interpreting services, and respond to concerns in a sympathetic and professional manner.
Qualifications, Training & Experience
- Experience in clerical support or reception in a clinical setting.
- Knowledge of patient information systems (e.g., RIS, CRIS) and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Previous experience in radiology or similar clinical department is desirable.
