Community Engagement & Volunteering Officer
Contract: Fixed Term – 18 months
Location: Birkenhead Park
About the Role
Your work will be at the heart of the park’s community, working with residents, visitors, volunteers and partners to ensure their voices are heard and reflected in future plans. You will develop creative engagement activities, support community‑led initiatives and grow a diverse and welcoming volunteer offer, helping people feel part of something meaningful.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver community events that bring people together.
- Build connections with schools and local groups.
- Use digital channels to widen participation and tell the park’s story.
- Act as a key link between the community and the wider project team, turning ideas into action.
- Ensure engagement is inclusive, accessible and impactful.
About the Candidate
You are naturally engaging and confident with people, enjoy listening as much as leading, and quickly build trust across diverse communities. You have experience delivering community‑focused projects or events, and bring energy, creativity and a genuine passion for making a difference. You are organised, self‑motivated, can balance competing priorities while maintaining quality, and communicate clearly in face‑to‑face, written, and online formats. You are comfortable using digital platforms to reach new audiences and see potential in people, partnerships and places.
Eligibility to work in the UK
Eligibility to work in the UK will be verified in the final stages of the selection process. Candidates must have a right to work in the UK before commencement or meet Home Office criteria for visa sponsorship. This role does not meet Skilled Worker visa requirements.
