Distribution Maintenance Technician
Salary: £29,244 – £36,223 per annum depending on experience.
Location
East Yorkshire. Required to travel within the Yorkshire region as needed.
Work type
Permanent, full time, 37 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:00). Occasional out of hours or weekend work may be required.
Role Overview
The role is part of the Distribution Maintenance Team, responsible for planned interventions on the water network at the DMA level, cyclical pipe flushing, and proactive maintenance to reduce network contamination and meet regulatory commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned flushing and sampling as per procedure and deploy data loggers.
- Execute and record all flushing activity to achieve optimal performance and risk mitigation.
- Amend scheme or timetable when unforeseen issues arise.
- Capture data to calculate sediment removal per flush.
- Conduct risk assessments for cyclical flushing activities.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently or in a team.
- Proficient IT skills; Excel essential.
- Strong health and safety awareness and compliance.
- Numerical understanding.
- Pragmatic approach and ability to amend planned activities at short notice.
Preferred Knowledge & Experience
- Understanding of water network discolouration mechanisms and water hygiene accreditation or Calm network training.
- Knowledge of design and operation of potable water distribution network assets.
- Knowledge of water hydraulics operation principles.
- Application of water hygiene principles at all times.
