Thera North is offering a permanent Support Worker role in Stanley, County Durham with full‑time and part‑time hours available. The hourly rate is £13.00.

The Support Worker Role

Thera North seeks enthusiastic support workers to support adults with a learning disability. Tasks include creating innovative ways to help individuals achieve personal goals, providing personal and emotional support, assisting with daily living skills, planning and managing their own homes, supporting leisure, employment, interests, and travel. The support varies person to person and may involve working in homes or in community settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide person‑centred support to adults with learning disabilities.
  • Assist with daily living, personal care, and independence skills.
  • Support individuals in planning, managing finances, and home organisation.
  • Encourage participation in leisure and employment activities.
  • Plan and accompany travel and community visits when required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • No previous experience or qualifications required; full training is provided.
  • Comfortable with lone working and supporting individuals with mental health needs.
  • Compassionate, caring, confident, and a self‑starter.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; articulate, professional, and written communication.
  • Motivation and keenness to learn in a fast‑paced environment and solve problems creatively.
  • Alignment with the values and vision of treating individuals as leaders and living life on their own terms.
