Duties & Responsibilities
- Load and unload food and equipment as directed, ensuring high standards and no customer complaints.
- Ensure all loads are secured safely and signed for at collection points.
- Comply with all Gate Gourmet and customer security procedures.
- Follow all health, safety, and hygiene requirements, including correct manual handling techniques.
- Drive a van when required.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects using the appropriate procedures.
- Take responsibility for company and customer property.
- Report all accidents and take appropriate preventative action.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and non‑verbally, at all levels.
- Maintain accurate records in the daily log and review it at the start of each shift.
- Remain flexible and adaptable within the role.
- Carry out quality checks and implement improvements where necessary.
- Assist with follow‑up actions from Quality Assurance and Health & Safety reports.
- Perform any other duties as required.
Education
- GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).
Work Experience
- A valid, clean UK driving licence is essential.
- Good standard of written and spoken English.
- Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong reading and writing skills in English.
- Good customer service skills.
- Positive and proactive attitude.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong team player.
- Previous experience in catering or hospitality is desirable but not essential.
- Willingness to work shifts and eagerness to learn.
Additional Information
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be able to pass a Criminal Record Check (CRC).
You must also provide five years of verifiable employment history.
If you have spent more than six months outside the UK, you will need to provide a criminal record check from the relevant country.
