4 hours during term time, increasing to 12 hours during school holidays (flexible, mutually agreed)
Pay
£13.50 per hour
About the young person
A 9‑year‑old girl with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, significant sensory difficulties and a profound learning disability. She is non‑verbal but uses gestures, has food intolerances, uses fingers for eating, has very limited world understanding, no stranger danger awareness, requires constant supervision, enjoys swimming, walking, beach, park. Behaviourly, anxious around other children and dogs.
Responsibilities
- Provide support and build trusted relationship.
- Engage in social activities, sensory opportunities, open to new experiences.
- Improve social and life skills, promote independent living skills.
- Personal care carried out sensitively and caring manner.
- Supervise road safety, hold hand or fasten in buggy.
- Promote positive self‑esteem and self‑confidence during activities.
- Behaviour support: address anxiety and animal fear.
- Any other duties within scope, mutually agreed.
Qualifications & experience
- Previous experience working with people living with autism and learning disability.
- Person‑centred approach, genuine interest in supporting goal achievement.
- Can follow instructions, maintain professional standard of care.
- Trustworthy, kind, punctual, reliable, patient, supportive, good listening skills.
- Maintain confidentiality, respect privacy, prohibited use of social media.
- Works flexibly, adapts to variable requirements.
Requirements
- DBS and two references.
- Proof of Right to Work in UK.
- No personal mobile phone at work unless emergency.
