Fire Craft Instructor

The Fire Service College (FSC) is transforming its curriculum to a hybrid delivery model, maximizing the use of its unique assets and facilities while delivering high‑quality theoretical learning. The role supports this transformation by delivering professional teaching and learning across the FSC courses and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional teaching capability across FSC courses, fire & rescue service qualifications, and wider private sector training.
  • Deliver instructor duties, including providing feedback to delegates and, when required, acting as a syndicate lead.
  • Ensure health, safety and welfare of learners, colleagues and visitors, and deliver training off‑site at other venues.
  • Support the FSC annual delivery plan by seeking opportunities, broadening skills and supporting delivery in specialist areas.
  • Promote the FSC core values, equality, diversity, and legal and ethical obligations.
  • Uphold a health‑and‑safety culture and comply with legislation and FSC policies.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Firefighter instructor with experience in a uniformed training environment (preferably Fire & Rescue Service or a recognised fire training establishment).
  • Strong understanding of the Fire Sector and working knowledge of the Qualifications and Curriculum Framework.
  • Nationally recognised training qualification (AET L3 minimum) and relevant assessor awards; willingness or ability to obtain Internal Verifier accreditation.
  • Current or working toward: SFJ Level 3 BAI, SFJ Level 3 TVI, CFBTI Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
