Special Needs Assistant – Secondary School (Prestwich, M25 Area)

Salary: £100-115 per day (dependent on experience)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm

We are working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in the Prestwich area, seeking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Assistant from September 2026. The Role
As a Special Needs Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access the curriculum and develop both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with special educational needs (SEN)
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and accessible lessons
- Support pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development
- Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and support strategies
- Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a structured learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCO, and external professionals
The Ideal Candidate Will
- Have experience supporting children or young people with SEN (desirable)
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
- Be confident supporting behaviour and emotional regulation
- Show a proactive and flexible approach to supporting student needs
- Work effectively as part of a team and build positive relationships
Eligibility Requirements
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Two professional references relating to working with children or young people
