Overview

Pink Tile Education is supporting a welcoming secondary school in Brighton in their search for a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Mainstream Teaching Assistant to join their team in September. This is a full-time permanent position supporting students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 within a mainstream secondary school setting. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support student learning, engagement, and wellbeing across a range of subjects.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide in-class support to students across KS3 and KS4 to help them access learning effectively.
  • Support teachers with lesson preparation, classroom organisation, and learning resources.
  • Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce learning objectives and encourage progress.
  • Support students with varying abilities, including those with additional learning needs where required.
  • Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a calm and inclusive learning environment.
  • Encourage student confidence, engagement, independence, and participation during lessons.
  • Assist with monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Support classroom management in line with school policies and expectations.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and the wider school team.
  • Uphold safeguarding procedures and promote student wellbeing at all times.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive, proactive, and adaptable approach to supporting students.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Commitment to supporting student progress, wellbeing, and inclusion.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Must hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
