Teaching Assistant II

Winchelsea School is a community special school serving pupils aged 4 to 19 with learning difficulties.

Key Details

  • Salary: Pay Band 5, SCP 11-18 (£28,142 – £31,537 pro rata)
  • Employment Status: Part Time, Term Time Only
  • Hours: 32.5 per week
  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Working Weeks: 39
  • Closing Date: 1 June 2026
  • Start Date: as soon as possible

Role Overview

Work closely with teaching staff across eight satellite classrooms at Kinson Academy, Old Town Infant School, Canford Heath Junior School and Magna Academy, or at the main Winchelsea School site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with moderate learning difficulties and autism in the classroom.
  • Assist with teaching and learning activities for younger and older cohorts.
  • Provide support during lessons, transitions and school activities.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to promote pupil progress.
  • Adhere to safeguarding and welfare procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children, particularly those with learning difficulties or autism (advantage).
  • Valid DBS check (enhanced).
  • Commitment to safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.

Working Hours

  • Monday 08:30–16:15
  • Tuesday 08:45–15:30
  • Wednesday 08:45–15:30
  • Thursday 08:45–15:30
  • Friday 08:30–15:30
