Job Summary
Horbury Primary Academy is seeking a caring, reliable and enthusiastic 1:1 Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant to support a child with a visual impairment who will join the Academy in September 2026. The primary aim of this role is to supervise the child during lunchtime, ensuring their safety and wellbeing, while actively supporting their inclusion in all lunchtime activities.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the child during the lunchtime period, ensuring safety and wellbeing.
- Actively support full inclusion in lunchtime activities, promoting participation alongside peers.
- Create proactive opportunities for the child to engage in play and social interaction.
- Adapt situations as needed to make lunchtime a positive and meaningful experience.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with children, showing empathy and responsiveness.
- Take time to understand the child’s individual needs and help them build friendships and independence.
- Work collaboratively with school staff to facilitate inclusion.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience working with children, especially those with visual impairments or SEND.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Observant, responsive, and empathetic approach.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to support the child effectively.
Working Pattern
Monday to Friday, 12.00pm to 1.15pm.
Other Requirements
- Full training and support will be provided for the right candidate.
- The post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
