Job Title: Tooling Technician
Location: Skinningrove, Saltburn‑by‑the‑Sea
Salary: £18.27 p/h
Hours: Full Time, Permanent
Travel: Up to 5 % for training and development
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off, 2‑day shifts, 2‑night shifts.
Closing Date: 31/05/2026
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture and fit production tooling to tight tolerances.
- Carry out repair, maintenance, and continuous improvement of tooling.
- Build, assemble, and set tooling in line with production requirements.
- Perform machine tool changes during production operations.
- Operate and conduct daily maintenance of tool room equipment, including surface grinders and hydraulic presses.
- Accurately document all service, maintenance, and repair work.
- Provide technical expertise for troubleshooting and operational support.
- Ensure all deliverables meet required quality standards and compliance regulations.
- Identify and implement opportunities for cost efficiency and operational velocity.
- Manage and deliver projects within responsibility areas.
- Record all tooling activities and maintain detailed shift handovers.
- Maintain tooling failure logs and site maintenance tasks.
- Operate safely at height, using appropriate PPE.
- Use precision measuring equipment, such as verniers and micrometers.
- Utilise CMMS effectively.
- Operate lifting equipment according to safety regulations.
- Maintain a proactive health and safety approach.
Qualifications
- NVQ2 Level 2 in Mechanical Engineering or similar, or equivalent experience.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in hand tools and machinery relevant to tool making.
- Strong understanding of machining processes and principles.
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Ability to use a range of power and hand tools.
- Proactive, bias for action.
- Strong focus on health and safety.
- Demonstrates mutual respect.

- Excellent verbal and written communication.

Preferred Additional Qualifications
- Experience reading engineering drawings.
- Hydraulic and mechanical knowledge.
- Truck driving licence (reach, counter‑balance, Jib).
- Proficiency in IT systems.
