Salary

£32,916 to £51,048 per annum, plus a maximum SEN Allowance of £5,497.

The Role

The Specialist Support Teacher will advise and collaborate with SENDCos, Headteachers, setting managers, teachers, practitioners, external agencies, voluntary organisations and parents to deliver inclusive practices and address school SEND priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic support and guidance in establishing and addressing school SEND priorities and inclusive practices.
  • Advise on the assessment and identification of special educational needs as part of the assess, plan, do and review cycle.
  • Partner with the SEN Team to complete educational advice (Appendix B) for the EHC needs assessment for children and young people aged 0-25 who are not on roll.
  • Assist schools in understanding and applying the SEND Code of Practice, SEND Reforms, and the EHCP process.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience delivering SEND support across foundation and primary key stages; willingness to work in secondary, academy, free school, and post‑16 settings.
  • Appropriately qualified teacher with a proven track record of SEN delivery.
  • Commitment to independently developing expertise in SEND law, the SEND Code of Practice, reforms, and the EHCP process.
  • Strong knowledge of new strategies, approaches, resources and publications to implement and review effective practices.
