St. Leonard’s Primary School is offering the opportunity for a highly motivated, hard‑working and enthusiastic caretaker to join our team.
20 hours per week
Pro rata approximately, £13,277 – £13,705 (subject to the National Joint Council (NJC) pay award from April 2026, pending agreement)
The successful candidate will:
- Have experience of school caretaking, or a similar and relevant role.
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Be able to understand and apply regulations around Health and Safety, including carrying out and recording compliance checks.
- Be friendly and approachable, flexible, resilient and hard‑working.
- Be prepared to participate in all aspects of St. Leonard’s school life.
Typical responsibilities would include:
- Unlocking the school site at approximately 7.00am.
- Locking and securing the school site at approximately 6.00–6.30pm.
- Carrying out statutory fire and water safety checks.
- General maintenance and repairs around the school site.
- Monitoring the condition, cleanliness and safety of the premises.
- Liaising with contractors where required.
The working pattern would typically involve approximately 4 hours per day, split across morning and evening duties with 4-weeks of work carried out during school holidays.
