Job Summary

Arriva is looking for a PCV driver to operate buses at the Heckmondwike depot. The role involves transporting commuters, shoppers, and school children while delivering excellent customer service and building positive relationships with passengers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive a PCV to deliver passengers to work, school, or shops.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and build rapport with regular passengers.
  • Follow the rotating shift pattern: 04:00, 12:00, or 18:00 start times, with 5 out of 7 days per week and up to 6‑8 weeks advance notice.
  • Prepare for and pass a drug and alcohol test before the driving assessment; medications are acceptable with doctor approval.
  • Work weekends as required by the rota and maintain a minimum of 36 working hours per week.
  • Participate in ongoing training and improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Valid PCV licence and at least 6 months of driving experience.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Less than or equal to 6 points on the licence.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Comfortable with rotating shifts, weekend duties, and overtime.
  • Able to pass a drug and alcohol test, with medical approval allowed for ongoing medication.

Pay & Hours

Pay rate £14.00–£16.00 per hour. During the first 6 months of probation you earn £14.00 per hour (eligible candidates with PCV experience); after probation you earn £16.00 per hour. Pay rates are reviewed through frequent negotiations.

Hours: 5 out of 7 rotating shift pattern with 6–8 weeks notice, minimum 36 hours per week, overtime available.
