JOB PURPOSE

To safely operate a counterbalance forklift and support yard operations at Tilbury Docks, ensuring efficient handling of goods while maintaining high health and safety standards in a busy, physically demanding environment.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate counterbalance forklifts safely and efficiently in a busy yard environment.
  • Load, unload, and move goods and materials as directed.
  • Support yard operations with manual handling and general physical tasks.
  • Follow all health & safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Carry out regular equipment checks and report any faults or issues.
  • Work collaboratively with the yard team to maintain smooth operations.
  • Responsibility for compliance and discharging legal duties with regards to HR and Health & Safety to promote a safe, equitable and legally compliant workplace.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB

  • Valid, in-date Counterbalance Forklift Licence (essential).
  • Proven experience operating forklifts in a busy yard or dockside setting.
  • Good understanding of health & safety practices in a high-traffic environment.
  • Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling duties.
  • Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work well in a team.
