Shift Description: Monday 0800-13:00, Saturday 11:00-19:30, Sunday 11:00-19:30 (working hours subject to seasonal change)

Location: Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew Gardens, Richmond, Greater London, England TW9 3AE

Main Duties

  • Supervise waste movements in and around the current waste service area, including weekly area inspections and reporting of any QSHE issues, while proactively improving the yard area for all parties.
  • Remove waste materials from holding bins and sort into streams within the MRF before transfer into the appropriate segregated containers.
  • Undertake service routes around Kew Gardens to empty visitor facing bins and return contents to MRF area for sorting.
  • Bale clean recyclables and move bales to storage area on site awaiting collection.
  • Ensure the cabin is kept clean, well‑maintained and safe working order (e.g., PAT tested), reporting any issues to the Waste Services Supervisor.
  • Have full knowledge of the cleaning process, including the agreed work to be carried out and time allocated to this.
  • Maintain the designated waste yard area to an agreed level of cleanliness in line with client requirements, carrying out all daily, weekly and periodic tasks as directed by the Waste Supervisor.
  • Have full working knowledge of all cleaning equipment, materials and approved chemicals used within the premises and attend all necessary training.
  • Comply with the requirements of Health & Safety, other relevant legislation and client policies.
  • Use products carefully and look after all equipment.
  • Report any maintenance issues to the Waste Services Supervisor.
  • Understand and observe MITIE and client site rules at all times.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) issued.
  • Ensure correct PPE is worn and kept clean and tidy.
  • Ensure all relevant safety signs (such as wet floor warning signs) are used correctly and appropriately at all times.
  • Observe all company and client statutory fire and safety regulations and promote good safety habits and methods of work.
  • Deal with any complaints within the job holder’s duties and report these immediately to the Waste Services Supervisor.
  • Perform miscellaneous cleaning duties as apparent or as instructed by the Waste Services Supervisor.
  • Report in when arriving and leaving site using Workplace Plus.
  • Undertake any other related duties within the job holder’s capability, according to the needs of the business and as directed by the Waste Services Supervisor.
