About the Role
You’ll play a critical role in ensuring the active network never runs out of capacity, covering core, edge, aggregation and access IP domains. Working within the Architecture & Engineering function and the Implementation & Planning team, you’ll build accurate forecasts and scenario models to guide timely capacity augments. This role translates demand signals into actionable network plans, budgets and delivery priorities, helping the wider business make informed, forward-looking decisions.

Responsibilities
- Owning end‑to‑end capacity forecasts for active network equipment with clear thresholds and augment triggers
- Building and maintaining scenario‑based models for growth, failure and resilience planning
- Translating product growth and build plans into network capacity plans and budget asks
- Generating capacity augment recommendations and tracking delivery with Engineering and Delivery teams
- Incorporating space, power and peak usage metrics into all capacity planning decisions
- Chairing capacity reviews and ensuring zero capacity‑driven incidents
Qualifications and Experience
You’ll bring deep experience in IP capacity planning within a telecoms environment, alongside strong analytical and modelling capability. You’ll also have:
- Significant experience in IP capacity planning across core and edge networks
- Hands‑on experience with router architectures and linecards such as Juniper MX or Nokia SR
- Strong understanding of MPLS, ISIS, BGP, OSPF, QoS and traffic engineering
- Proficiency in forecasting and time‑series modelling, including scenario modelling
- Strong data and programming skills using SQL and Python or R
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering and planning teams
