Role Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Club Director/Manager who shares our passion for the sport of gymnastics to oversee the operations and continued growth of our organisation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the club runs efficiently, provides exceptional experiences for our gymnasts and staff, and helps foster a positive and inclusive environment for all. This role combines strategic planning with hands‑on management.

Key Responsibilities
- Leadership: Maintain strong relationships with members, parents, and stakeholders, addressing concerns promptly and promoting a welcoming environment. Supervise and mentor staff/volunteers ensuring high performance and adherence to the club’s values.
- Operations Management: Oversee day‑to‑day operations, including scheduling, budgeting, maintenance of facilities, and compliance with health and safety regulations. Responsible for managing a range of organisational policies, procedures and practices covering GDPR, health and safety, employment and employee relations, financial operations and other internal operations.
- People Management: Responsible for the human resources of YCG, ensuring the staff and volunteer resource is utilised effectively to deliver strategic and business plans, creating a positive working environment for all, and operating recognised best practice and legal compliance for both staff and volunteers. Operate effective performance management of staff.
- Strategic Planning: Ensure the staffing and volunteering structure for YCGF is fit for purpose.
- Communication: Ensure an effective communications function for YCGF, both internally and externally, including traditional forms and across our website and social media.
- Customer Relations: Responsible for the overall service offer of YCGF, in terms of its quality, performance and effectiveness in meeting the needs of its beneficiaries.
- Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, monitor expenditures, and identify revenue opportunities, ensuring the club’s financial health. Responsible for overall legal and contractual compliance including but not limited to the requirements of our main national regulators: the Charity Commission, Companies House and Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) etc.
- Safeguarding: Overall safeguarding responsibility for all staff, volunteers, visitors and children who use the club ensuring a safe environment for all.
- Marketing and Outreach: Collaborate on marketing efforts and community outreach programs to increase engagement and visibility.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a managerial role ideally within sports or recreational industries.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge and experience working in and managing charitable organisations.
- Knowledge of gymnastics or similar sports is advantageous.
- Business acumen with experience in budgeting and strategic planning.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups, including members, staff, and external partners.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to sports facilities and within the work place.
