This is an excellent opportunity to join the Acute Medicine team as a Consultant in Acute Medicine.
Based at Arrowe Park Hospital, the Consultant will play a key role in delivering high-quality acute medical care within a large, consultant‑led service that places strong emphasis on early senior clinical decision‑making, multidisciplinary working and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC).
The Acute Medicine service manages approximately 500–600 emergency medical attendances each week and includes the Urgent Medical Assessment Centre (UMAC), delivering ambulatory and same‑day care, alongside the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) providing inpatient assessment and short‑stay care. Consultants provide senior clinical leadership across these areas and contribute to the acute medical take, post‑take ward rounds and front‑door decision making in collaboration with Emergency Medicine and specialty teams.
Acute Medicine at WUTH is undergoing a period of service development focused on strengthening Same Day Emergency Care, improving patient flow and creating a more sustainable acute assessment model. Consultants can contribute to these developments and shape how acute care is delivered in the future.
