Job Description:

The post holder will contribute to the delivery of high‑quality, patient‑focused care within the Uro Gynaecology & Mesh Service by providing effective clinical and clerical support to the multidisciplinary team. The role also involves offering appropriate information, assistance, and support to patients when required, ensuring a safe, respectful, and positive care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with all activities of living.
  • Assist the registered nurse and other members of the clinical team to deliver patient care.
  • Assist in invasive procedures within the UroGynaecology department.
  • Assist and support trained staff and patients during specialised urogynaecological procedures, including urodynamic investigations.
  • Participate in emergency procedures within the UroGynaecology department.
  • Receive training in venepuncture and adhere to GG&C policy.
  • Undertake the nursing auxiliary competency profile.
  • Take and record blood pressure.
  • Observe and record respirations.
  • Obtain specimen collections and perform urinalysis.
  • Prepare patients for procedures.
  • Share responsibility for key aspects of housekeeping and stock control, demonstrating a good awareness of cost efficiency and safety.

Qualifications

  • Accurate keyboard and data entry.
  • Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload without supervision in a busy environment.
  • Ability to work on own initiative in a proactive manner, with effective written and verbal communication, literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and willingness to learn.
  • A basic awareness of the importance of good hygiene.
  • Ability to use IT systems.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
  • Ability to fulfil all requirements of the job description.
