Overview

The Paediatric Complex Care team is expanding due to increased referrals. The team supports children and families across NHS Highland in the home environment and wider community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accompany children and/or families during school/nursery, hospital appointments/admissions, outings, and respite during shifts.
  • Provide direct care and healthcare support within guidelines and protocols.
  • Work flexibly across day, evening, weekend, and night shifts as part of a 24/7 service.
  • Travel to various locations throughout NHS Highland; use own car; travel expenses reimbursed and accommodation provided for stays.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience working with children and/or community care experience essential.
  • Ability to independently work with the child/family once competency achieved.

Training & Support

Training and support will be provided to achieve tasks and skills with assessed competency, taking approximately 8 weeks. Following training, competencies are achieved and the post holder will work with direct responsibility for the child’s healthcare needs.

Working Hours & Benefits

Effective from 1 April 2026, the full time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours, with part time hours adjusted pro rata. The hourly rate will be increased to keep pay unaffected. Travel expenses reimbursed; accommodation provided for overnight stays.
