St. Bartholomew’s Hospital is looking to recruit a Healthcare Support Worker (HCA) to work in Cardiac Surgical Ward (Ward 4B). This post is open to both experienced Healthcare Support Workers and individuals who are new to care. If you have completed the care certificate, you will start as a band 3. If you do not have the care certificate, you will work as a Band 2 and be supported to complete the requirements, with the intent to be promoted to band 3.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient observations (e.g., monitoring vital signs)
- Assisting with personal care and mobility
- Supporting patients’ nutritional and hydration needs
- Performing delegated duties such as taking blood pressure, recording ECG, and MRSA screening
- Providing wound dressings
- Demonstrating strong teamworking and communication skills to ensure the comfort, wellbeing, and safety of patients
- Acting as an integral part of the nursing team, actively meeting the needs of patients and the service under direct supervision of the registered nurse
- Continuing to develop essential competencies through training and practice to maintain safety and quality standards
