Nottingham College is seeking to appoint a motivated and experienced Electrical Lecturer to join the Engineering and Electrical team. This is an opportunity to support the delivery and continued development of electrical curriculum across full‑time study programmes and apprenticeship provision. We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable individual with strong electrical industry experience who can confidently support and inspire learners at both Level 2 and Level 3. You will hold a recognised electrical qualification at Level 3 or above and bring sound knowledge of electrical installation practices, including health and safety, safe isolation, installation methods and current industry standards. With experience or familiarity with City & Guilds Electrical qualifications, you will be able to deliver both theoretical and practical learning clearly and effectively. You’ll have the ability to support a diverse range of learners, including full‑time students and apprentices, adapting your approach to meet individual needs. Strong communication, organisation and record‑keeping skills are essential, alongside a genuine commitment to high‑quality teaching, learning, assessment and ensuring every learner makes meaningful progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and effective teaching across Level 2 and Level 3 Electrical Installation qualifications, including City & Guilds programmes.
- Support the delivery of electrical content within Level 3 apprenticeship standards, including Installation and Maintenance Electrician pathways where appropriate.
- Plan and deliver structured theory and practical sessions that develop learners’ technical knowledge, workshop competence and professional behaviours.
- Support learners with electrical principles, installation methods, health and safety, wiring regulations, inspection and testing, fault‑finding and industry expectations.
Requirements
- Recognised electrical qualification at Level 3 or above.
- Sound knowledge of electrical installation practices, health and safety, safe isolation, installation methods and current industry standards.
- Experience or familiarity with City & Guilds Electrical qualifications.
- Strong communication, organisational and record‑keeping skills.
- Commitment to high‑quality teaching, learning, assessment and ensuring every learner makes meaningful progress.
- Background checks including employer references and an enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.
