Summary

This vacancy is for an Apprentice Accounts/Finance Assistant based in Nelson.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to undertake valuable work experience within the accounts department whilst gaining on‑the‑job qualifications.

Wage and Hours

Wage: £16,640 for the first year, with potential increases depending on age.

Hours: Monday to Thursday – 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; Friday – 8:00 am to 2:30 pm (40 hours per week).

Schedule and Duration

Start date: Monday 6 July 2026.

Duration: 1 year 3 months.

Responsibilities

  • Match Goods Received Notes to Invoices and verify quantities/prices.
  • Book received items in the CRM system.
  • Enter invoices into Xero.
  • Check supplier statements against received invoices.
  • Query any discrepancies with suppliers.
  • Enter website sales orders into the CRM.
  • Check engineers’ timesheets to monitor start and finish times.
  • Perform other ad‑hoc accounting‑related duties.

Training

Training provider: TRAINING 2000 LIMITED.

Course: Accounts or Finance Assistant (Level 2).

  • Record transactional data.
  • Use standard tools and processes to examine data for reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon and tailoring language to the audience and media.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to input and manage data for routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, including secure backup of data.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

  • GCSE English (grade 4/C or above)
  • GCSE Maths (grade 4/C or above)
