What you will do

  • Undertake assessments of prospective adopters, including completion of Prospective Adopter Reports and presenting them to the Adoption Panel
  • Support family finding and matching processes for children with adoption plans, ensuring timely permanence outcomes and minimising delay
  • Provide post‑adoption support, advice, and intervention to adoptive families, children, and birth relatives where appropriate
  • Undertake direct work with children to understand their wishes, feelings, identity, and life story needs as part of permanence planning

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Degree in Social Work (BA/MA or equivalent)
  • Evidence of continued professional development relevant to adoption and permanence practice

Registration & Compliance

  • Registered with Social Work England
  • Strong knowledge of the Adoption and Children Act 2002, Children Act 1989/2004, and Adoption Agencies Regulations 2005
  • Understanding of permanence planning, attachment theory, and safeguarding frameworks
