The post holder is responsible for tracking the progress of cancer patients through care services (e.g. Radiology and Pathology) and core services (e.g. Health Records). They will co‑ordinate Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings to facilitate the provision of care and core services, providing administrative support and ensuring that all relevant information is available to enable clinical decisions to be made and recorded according to evidence‑based protocols. This role also involves working closely with clinical teams. You will need to have excellent people skills, excellent communication skills, enjoy working in a busy, challenging environment and have a positive approach to change, and have excellent IT skills.
Essential qualifications
- Educated to GCSE or equivalent including a Grade C or higher in Maths and English
- Experience using full range of IT systems and patient data systems (including advanced understanding of MS Office packages, Cerner, ERS)
- Experience prioritising own workload in a highly pressurised environment and adjusting work in response to unexpected events
- Experience of data collection
- Experience dealing with complex and sensitive matters over the telephone and, on occasions, face to face
- Knowledge of Cancer Standards and National Guidance
- Knowledge of healthcare administrative systems and processes
- Ability to compile reports as required
- Ability to maintain effectiveness and remain calm under pressure and cope with unexpected demands
- Ability to cope with the responsibility of meeting high level performance targets
Desirable qualifications
- Experience working in a multi‑disciplinary environment
- Experience in cancer specific IT package (Infoflex)
- Experience dealing with cancer patients
- Experience of Cancer tracking or MDTC
- Evidence of ongoing continuous personal development (CPD) and training
