Apply for the Business Support Assistant (Practitioner Team)
Location: Biddulph
Job Description:

Business Support is key to the success of our Children’s Services because our Business Support teams are there, making sure things run smoothly, so that our frontline colleagues can deliver for children and families in the community. All that work in the background doesn’t just happen – it takes dedicated colleagues, taking pride in their work and seeing a purpose in the work they are doing.

Location: Biddulph Town Hall, High Street, Biddulph, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, ST8 6AR.

You will be predominantly office based, although some home working is arranged on a rota basis depending on the demands of the service.

Main Responsibilities

You will provide core business functions in addition to working closely with a range of Practitioner Leads, Team Manager, Family Practitioners, Professionals and Partners. You will need full knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and the ability to utilise the main applications. You’ll also chase workers for paperwork to make sure work is completed to the required deadlines. A part of this role is inputting data in our database, sharing data, and helping to ensure the database is up to date and accurate by cleansing data as and when needed. In addition, there is a requirement to support wider more generic office functions to support the delivery of all business support services.

The Ideal Candidate

Working in Business Support requires teamwork, good organisational skills and a good level of competency using IT systems.

We are also looking for you to have the following essential criteria,

  • Level II in Business Administration or equivalent qualification.
  • An IT qualification equivalent to the competency level of ECDL or equivalent.
  • Good communication skills because you’ll interact with lots of people across the organisation and externally through phone, in person and email.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail, as you’ll be keeping data updated and you’ll be working to deadlines.

And ideally we’d like you to have,

  • A flexible approach to work as sometimes things can change, and so you’ll need to be able to prioritise work and sometimes change tasks quickly.
  • A passion to always give the best service.

But it’s important to note that if you’re unsure whether your experience or skills are suitable, please get in touch with the recruiting manager, Tracy Egan, Business Support Team Leader at tracy.egan@staffordshire.gov.uk.

Interviews will be held on 17 June 2026. Previous applicants need not apply.
