Job Overview

We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and hardworking people with strong customer service skills. You will work in and around our halls of residence and other properties, independently and as a team. The role is physically demanding and requires a practical approach to building maintenance and safety.

Responsibilities

  • First line building maintenance: blocked drains, changing lamps, fixing toilet seats, cleaning, rubbish removal, etc.
  • Investigating jobs, making them safe where possible, and raising service requests for follow‑on work.
  • Ensuring building compliance and safety: testing fire alarms, checking emergency lights, water flushing, etc.
  • Moving stock and goods in and around site.
  • Coordinating emergency responses: fire alarms, first aid, floods, power outages.
  • Site patrol and security.
  • Assisting in open days and accommodation tours.
  • Covering customer contact points in person and via phone, dealing with arrivals, departures, and visitor enquiries.
  • Preparing sites and rooms for visitors and events.
  • Assisting in the daily operation of our halls and properties.

Qualifications

Preferred: valid driving licence (not essential). Basic IT knowledge is required, with full training provided.

Hours of Work

Full time, 36.25 hours per week. Work is compressed over four days mainly between 2:00 pm and 12:00 am, rotating across 7 days a week. Public and university holidays may be required. Job share arrangements may be considered. The role is permanent year‑round. Hours worked on weekends and unsocial hours (10 pm to 6 am) receive a 15% enhancement.
