We’re looking for a talented, imaginative, and dedicated Art and Ceramics Teacher to join our vibrant team. If you can deliver engaging lessons in mediums such as drawing, design, painting, clay work, and ceramics, while encouraging self-expression, confidence, and a love of the arts, we’d love to hear from you.

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus Gower, our prison education provider at HMP Parc, working as an Art and Ceramics Tutor. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 40 hours per week.

HMP Parc Prison is a Category B men’s prison located in Bridgend, Wales. The prison aims to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe at all times. The prison’s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

Role Responsibilities

Art and ceramics encompass vital rehabilitation and wellbeing programs at HMP Parc. Learners regularly create and submit award‑winning pieces including sculptures, paintings, and pottery to national programmes, and have even exhibited their work publicly at the Wales Millennium Centre. We’re looking for someone passionate about Art and Ceramics with the energy and skills to inspire our learners to continue to meet and exceed their potential.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Have enthusiasm for the subject and a desire to share knowledge and instil confidence in our learners
  • Hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, a relevant subject specialist qualification – with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
  • Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE or equivalent)
  • Have experience of creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners
  • Have experience of achieving quality targets
  • Have experience of producing accurate and timely reports
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrate an ability to motivate and enthuse learners
  • Have excellent organisational skills to prioritise workload, and meet deadlines and targets
  • Commit to positive team‑working
