The Opportunity
A highly regarded independent accountancy practice is looking to appoint an experienced Audit Senior, Assistant Manager, or Manager to join its growing team. The firm has built an excellent reputation within the SME and owner‑managed business market and is known for delivering a high‑quality, relationship‑led service across audit, accounts, and advisory work.
Although relatively small in size, the practice consistently punches above its weight in terms of the quality of its client portfolio, technical exposure, and level of responsibility given to staff. The environment is highly collaborative, commercially focused, and far less corporate than larger firms, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy autonomy, visibility, and close client interaction.
This is an urgent requirement driven by continued growth within the audit function, with the firm ideally looking for someone able to start in June, July, or August.
The role will be approximately 70% audit focused, with the remaining exposure covering accounts preparation, business advisory support, and some tax‑related work across a varied portfolio of clients.
The firm operates with a genuinely flat and horizontal structure, meaning individuals are given exposure and responsibility based on capability rather than hierarchy alone. Employees work closely with senior leadership and Partners, gaining far greater visibility internally than would typically be available within larger corporate firms.
The practice has embraced modern systems and operates within a fully paperless environment using cloud‑based audit software, allowing for a more efficient and streamlined approach to audit delivery. The culture is professional yet highly personable, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, trust, and long‑term staff development.
This opportunity would be particularly well suited to someone currently working within a small or medium‑sized accountancy practice who enjoys managing a broad and varied workload, building client relationships, and operating within a more hands‑on environment.
The firm also offers genuinely strong long‑term progression opportunities, with clear potential to progress towards Senior Manager, Director, and potentially Partnership level over time for the right individual.
