Job Title: Specialist Teaching Assistant for Deaf Children and Young People (BSL)

Salary and Hours

  • Harvington School setting – £8,275 – £9,723 per annum, 13.5 hours per week
  • Worcester School setting – £12,259 – £14,405 per annum, 20 hours per week

Role

We are a highly regarded, friendly team supporting deaf learners in mainstream settings across the county. As a specialist teaching assistant you will work closely with Qualified Teachers of the Deaf, Multi‑Sensory Impairment specialists, an Educational Audiologist and Specialist Practitioners, as well as setting‑based staff. You will support deaf children and young people in their educational setting and advocate for their needs.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with teachers and specialists to plan and deliver inclusive lessons and support activities for deaf learners.
  • Assist with practical support and lesson planning for both main and special educational needs classes.
  • Monitor progress and maintain accurate records and communication with parents and professionals.
  • Provide support for day‑to‑day learning activities and support the delivery of specialist resources.

Qualifications and Experience

  • BSL Level 2 qualification (or working towards Level 2).
  • Experience of working with children and young people.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence to support and advocate for a deaf pupil.
  • Ability to travel across the county.
  • Right to work in the UK and a DBS check.
