Year 5 Teacher – Gateshead

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 5 Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Gateshead. This is a fantastic opportunity for a committed practitioner who is passionate about inspiring pupils, delivering engaging lessons, and helping children develop confidence, resilience, and a love of learning.

As a Year 5 Teacher, you will play a key role in supporting pupils through an important stage of their primary education, preparing them academically and personally for the transition into upper Key Stage 2 and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and creative lessons in line with the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment where all pupils can thrive.
  • Assess, monitor, and track pupil progress, using assessment effectively to inform planning and next steps.
  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all learners, including pupils with SEND and varying abilities.
  • Promote high standards of behaviour, engagement, and achievement within the classroom.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers, and colleagues to support learning and wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider school team to contribute to school life and ongoing improvement.
  • Support pupils’ personal, social, and emotional development alongside their academic progress.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
  • Experience teaching within Key Stage 2, ideally Year 5.
  • Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum and effective classroom practice.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills.
  • A nurturing, enthusiastic, and adaptable approach to teaching and learning.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • The ability to inspire and motivate pupils to achieve their full potential.
