Responsibilities

  • Supporting the delivery, evaluation and reporting of programmes that protect and improve the health of Barnsley residents
  • Building community capacity for health initiatives and flagging concerns to colleagues
  • Presenting health information to different audiences
  • Following policies and standards and helping colleagues meet requirements
  • Taking on other duties as needed to support the team

Requirements

The role requires a basic criminal record check. Applicants must have a valid visa and be able to start work with all required legal documents. Barnsley Council does not hold Home Office sponsorship licences. A reasonable account of any significant periods (6 months or more in the past 3 years) of time living abroad may be asked for. Applicants are not currently holding a public‑health qualification or a degree in any subject; professional registration such as UKPHR is also not eligible for this apprenticeship. A professional attitude and a willingness to learn and take responsibility are essential.

Working Conditions

37 hours per week, minimum 3 days per week in the office. Flexible working is available. Location: Westgate Plaza, Westgate, Barnsley, S70 2DR.
