Job Description:

Location: Lightbody, Bothwell Road, Hamilton, ML3 0DW

Shift: 4 on / 4 off, working hours 7.00 am – 7.00 pm

Salary: Competitive

We have an opportunity for a Hygiene Operative to join our Hygiene Team at Lightbody, part of our Finsbury Food Group.

135 years of craft baking skills lie behind the quality of the special branded cakes, sweet snacks and slices we produce in Hamilton and 55 million products are produced each year. Lightbody is the UK’s largest supplier of celebration cakes to UK retailers, with Disney, Mars, Universal and Thorntons all within the portfolio of branded cakes made under licence. We also make a variety of supermarkets’ well-loved own-label cakes and in-store bakery bites.

Responsibilities

As a Hygiene Operative, you will play a vital role in ensuring our production site remains clean, safe, and ready for operation. You will work across all production areas, following strict hygiene procedures and maintaining exceptional standards that help us consistently meet customer and audit expectations. Meeting hygiene targets on time and in line with food safety, legality, and health & safety standards is essential.

In this role, you will ensure that equipment and facilities are cleaned to the highest hygiene and food safety standards. You will follow daily and weekly cleaning schedules, complete deep-clean tasks, and carry out shutdown cleans including machinery strip-downs (training provided).

This is an attractive and varied role, though at times it will also involve repetitive work, so you will need the resilience to meet that challenge while maintaining excellent standards. The role is predominantly lone working, so you must be confident working independently, using your initiative to complete tasks safely and efficiently. However, there will also be occasions where you will work as part of the wider hygiene team to support operational requirements.

You will accurately complete hygiene paperwork to demonstrate full compliance with due diligence, technical requirements, and site procedures. You will maintain pest-control standards and adopt safe systems of work to help ensure a safe environment for all.

Good hygiene and housekeeping will be central to your daily duties. You will follow clean as you go practices, promote safe behaviours, and work towards zero accidents. Supporting colleagues, meeting hygiene targets, and keeping the site production-ready will all be part of your contribution to the team.

Training opportunities will be available to help you develop your skills and progress within the team. Additional duties may be required to support operational needs.
